I’ve owned a few of the newer high end flashlights with cree leds, pretty impressive really, the one I have produces 200 lumens or lm. There is a new kickstarter project out there for two open source high powered flashlights made of anodized aluminum. There will be 2 models that can be pre-orderd by supporting them at kickstarter. The first model is capable of outputting 350lm and the second 50lm and can be pre-ordered for $35 and $60 respectively. In addition to just being brighter the more expensive light will feature usb programmability. Check out the link here
