I recently ordered a dust collector which will be a 2hp 110v that will draw 20amps. Through my research there aren’t a lot of 20 amp options for remote switches except the shop fox system which has received bad reviews and isn’t UL certified. I decided that this might be a good Arduino project to tackle-making an arduino controlled remote switch for my dust collector. I have found a great link showing how to make an arduino conrolled outlet using relays which can be seen here and then thanks to a suggestions from twitter follower @cbreish to pickup the gadget shield from rugged circuits I think i could use the arduino design linked to on instructables coupled with the ability to turn the dust collector on and off with an old tv remote. The gadget shield for arduino also has a microphone which could also be used to trigger the dust collector based on a minimum noise level (ie tool noise)
