Convert an old Computer Power supply into a lab supply

Need benchtop variable voltage power supply for your lab a lot of us could benefit from having one, problem is…they aren’t cheap. I would guess if you regularly check this site you’ve probably built a few computers in your time and what better way to be green (there really isn’t a more environmentally friendly option) than to reuse and re-purpose old items. Think about it otherwise these items are going to a dump (worst case) or a recycling center (best case) where large amounts of energy are required to turn it into raw materials and then large amounts will also be required to return those raw elements back to finished products. Anyways I’ll get off my soapbox and back to the topic at hand…cheap benchtop powersupply. I found a great how to on wikihow using an old Atx power supply which you can probably find for free…if not under 20 bucks, we’re talking about old ones-150watts will do so they have very little use in the computer industry anymore anyways.
