Chemical Brand your Wood projects

I’ve wanted to get a custom branding iron for my woodworking projects for quite a while now. The drawback…the price..they aren’t cheap around $200 dollars is pretty common for a custom logo. I found this awesome article over at make:projects showing how you can chemically burn your projects with identical looking results, the difference you can use a foam rubber stamp instead of an expensive metal piece.

The process works by using a mixture of ammonium chloride and water which the stamp is dipped into and then heat is applied causing decomposing the mixture into ammonia gas and hydrocholric acid which will burn the mark into your workpiece.  Remember to follow all safety precautions at the make link and check out the rest of this process
